3CTC9, Water Color Crayons and Perfect Pearls!

I am so happy that this week is school vacation!!!! I want to be able to have the house to myself and create. I did everything that I have to this week yesterday and today. We had our hot water heater kick the bucket about a week ago and I just today moved everything back to my stamping area. The water wasn't near any of my stuff but I wasn't going to take the chance that it was even in the same half of the basement. Everything is back to normal and I can find everything again!

I made this card for Kerry's Thursday challenge, 3CTC9, make a card using a technique. I love techniques so this was so much fun. The hardest part was, which technique? I decided on a back round colored in water color crayons on the diagonal, then spritzed with water. When it dried I tapped the whole thing with Versamark and then brushed Perfect Pearls on it. This way it softened it and gave it a shimmer. I colored it in my favorite colors, blue, purple and green.

The image is a Whipper Snapper stamp that I love and a friend let me stamp some so I could play with it (thanks Michelle). I colored it with Copics and Stickled the flowers. I kept the card pretty simple so I wouldn't hide a lot of the back round. One tip I can share with you that I learned at a Rubber Stamp Tapestry class was to punch a small hole in your CS and then take a brad and put the ribbon between the posts on the back of the brad and then slide it into the hole. It gathers up the ribbon and holds it tight when you spread the brad apart behind the CS. I put a flower on the brad first then the ribbon. It gives a nice finish to the card without having to tie a knot or bow.

Supplies:
Stamps: Whipper Snapper and Rubber Stamp Tapestry
CS: SU Pacific Point, Lovely Lilac, Neanah White, GP white
Coloring: SU Lovely Lilac, Water Color Crayons, Copics, Memento Black
Accessories: Nesties, Perfect Pearls, Stickles, CTMH flowers and brads, Michaels ribbon and misc. brads

I hope you try this technique it looks wonderful in any color combination you like.
Thanks for stopping by and looking at my work.
Please leave a comment if you like this technique, I really appreciate your comments.

Happy Birthday Kerry!!!

This card was made for Kerry's Thursday challenge, 3CTC6, it had to be a purple B'Day card with lots of glitter. I don't remember if she said "lots" of glitter or just glitter but I love glitter so I don't think you can ever have too much on a card, KWIM!

A good friend, Michelle, let my my sister Peggy and myself stamp some of these really cute Whipper Snapper images. Thanks so much Michelle! I really loved this mouse and thought of him right away for Kerry's card. It was brought to my attention the other day that all the cards I have made lately have been square cards. I was going to make this only the regular size but couldn't make everything fit right on it and didn't want to take anything away from it so it's square once again.

Tomorrow is Kerry's B'Day so I wanted to make sure I wished her a very Happy Birthday filled with lots of fun! How many candles should this little mouse place on the cake, Twenty-four maybe?

Supplies:
Stamps: Whipper Snapper, The Artful Stamper, SU
CS: SU Lovely Lilac, Shimmer paper, sticky glitter paper, and DP Reminisce
Ink: Lovely Lilac, Memento black and Copics
Accessories: SU glitter, Nesties, CB embossing folder, misc. brads and LSS ribbon

Thanks for looking, please leave a comment about what you like about this card if you have a minute, it's very much appreciated.

Visit again soon,

Isn't Life Sweet

I made this card for Kerry's first Thursday challenge, 3CTC1, over on her blog. I really liked the sketch and couldn't wait to participate.
I just loved this dog from Whipper Snapper from the moment I saw it!! When I first started dating my husband his family had a big, black dog that did nothing but slobber all over everything and his tongue was always trying to lick everything. My father-in-law loved ice cream and so did Brutus. When my FIL was done with his ice cream he would leave a little in the bowl for the dog and when he was done with the box of ice cream that big dog would act like a puppy chasing the box around the kitchen trying to lick every last drop. That is why I put the ice cream cone on my card and I thought the saying was very fitting for the memory this card gave to both my husband and I.
The ice cream was brushed with Shimmerz to give it a summery, melty look. The dog's drool and his tongue have Crystal Effects on them to give them a wet look. I could not find a bone stamp or image to print out so I had to draw one myself. I wasn't real happy with it but I was afraid if I played with it too much I would only make it worse. This is why I stamp and don't draw!

Supplies:
Stamps: Whipper Snapper, Stampabilities, Inkadinkado
CS: SU Tempting Turquoise, Choc. Chip, Neenah white, CTMH beige and DP DCWV
Ink: Memento black and brown and Copics
Accessories: Nesties, misc. brads, Shimmerz Angel Wings, and Crystal Effects

Kerry is promising to have a great and different challenge every Thursday so you should pop over and try it out.
Thanks for looking, leave a comment if you like what I did!

Snowpile Fun

This is a new stamp that I just got from Whipper Snapper. I don't have any "snowballs" just snowmen so I couldn't resist how cute they looked. After I colored them with Copics I then painted the snow parts of them with Angel Wings Shimmerz to make them sparkle like new snow in the sun. I glittered the snow on the ground to set it apart from them. The swirls on the DP paper are shiny silver so I sponged the edges of the stamped image with Cool Carribean them painted Silver Bells Shimmerz over it, that way it would bring out the DP paper silver. The card ended up with a lot of shimmer and shine! The whole card went together pretty quick which is unusual for me.

Supplies:
Stamps: Whipper Snapper
Inks: SU Cool Carribean, Memento Black and Copics
Paper: CS- SU Cool Carribean, White and DP- S.E.I.
Accessories: Shimmerz, Paper Shaper Snowflake Punch, Cuttlebug Embossing Swirls, Nesties, Michael's Snowflake Ribbon, SU Silver Cording and Glitter, MM Silver Brads and Silver Snowflake Charm

I have lots more new stamps that I haven't played with yet so check back soon!
Thanks for looking,

I Love Snowmen!

We had more snow last night and today so I decided yesterday to start a snowman card! This guy is so cute and I have to thank my friend Pia for letting me stamp this image when a lot of my dear friends, my sister and I went on a stamping weekend in Vermont a couple of months ago.

The card took me alot longer to make than I expected because I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it at first. I finished around lunchtime today after I slept on a few ideas that I had for it. I am happy with the way it came out though if I do it again I would change a few minor things. You can't tell from the picture and I am not good enough with my camera yet to show you but the backround of the snowman is shimmery. I painted sky blue Shimmerz on the sky and angel wings on the snow and the saying and punched snowflakes. I was hoping to make the snowman pop from the backround . The snowman was painted with Copics and the sky was colored with Prisma pencils and Gamsol. I used a Signo white pen on the flakes after everything dried. I tried to make the card pink and purple to get away from using blue but I ended up using blue instead of purple anyway because it looked the best!

Supplies:

Stamps: Whipper Snapper and Rubber Stamp Tapestry-snowflake
Paper: SU cs-Brilliant blue, Pixie pink, GP white, White shimmer paper, DP-Dream Street
Papers
Ink: SU Bliss Blue, Verafine black
Coloring: Copics, Prisma colored pencils with gamsol, Shimmerz and Signo white pen
Accessories: punched snowflake, felt snowflake and Prima snowflake, Michaels snowflake ribbon, misc. brads, cuttlebug folder-snowflakes

I am on a snowman roll so if you like snowmen check back I'll have another cute one tomorrow!
Thanks for looking.
