Picking Time! 3CTC39, Stamp Something Sketch Challenge

It finally stopped raining here in New England. I don't normally mind a rainy day but I have been home sick with something that knocked me right off my feet, yesterday was the first day I got up and got dressed and tried to face the world still not feeling 100% but wanting some fresh air without the downpours.

This stamp is one of Crissy Armstrong's on Squigglefly. Isn't this one of the cutest turkeys you've ever seen and I love that it's a digi. This card was made for a sketch this week from Stamp Something Challenge Blog. It is a really fun sketch that worked perfectly with this image I think. I also made it for Kerry's fun Thursday challenge, 3CTC39, use a bird or bug on your creation.I printed out the turkey twice and cut out the front part of the turkey and popped up the turkey from the shirt up to give him some depth. His feet and bottom I just glue dotted down so he looked like he was still attached to his feathered backside.

I am one who has a comfort zone and don't realize how much I'm in it until I get knocked out of it. I must always cover my whole card with DP. There are so many out there that are perfect that I always reach for them. Well I didn't have any that went with this plaid. It was a scrap I had that I loved. I don't even know who makes it. I decided to just stamp on the red CS with fall leaves in red. It shows up IRL but not in the pick. I am not really crazy about it since it is not the norm for me. It is times like this that I will pull the card apart many times(often ruining some part of it in the process) trying to change it. This time I finished it and am posting before I give myself the chance to go at it again. Thanks for letting me vent so I can move on!

Candy Please! 3CTC36, Stamp Something Blog Halloween Challenge, Makeup 4 the Weekend Challenge

Halloween is just around the corner and I haven't made very many Halloween cards. I am not sure why time just seems to get away from me. KWIM? This card was made for three challenges. The first one is Kerry's Thursday Challenge, 3CTC36, a great sketch challenge this week and a special thank you to Kerry! The second challenge I just found this weekend, Stamp Something Challenge Blog, This week the theme is Halloween. I guess it was fate that I found it, so I knew I would have to join in on the fun! The third challenge is a new one to me also, The Paper Makeup Blog Makeup 4 the Weekend Color Challenge. The colors to use for this challenge is black, orange, white and purple perfect Halloween colors. They also have some really cute stamps at their store.

I just love this little mouse. It is a digi stamp from the Greeting Farm and made by the same artist that designs the Motivet stamps. I love those stamps also. I colored the image with Copics and IRL the whole image is a lot brighter in color like the purple is darker and the pinks "POP" more. It is cloudy here today and I take my pictures in my usually sunny front bay window. I will try again when we see the sun or when it drives me crazy enough to pull out my OTT light.
She is still cute even though a bit paler in color and am will be collecting a lot of "treats".

Supplies
Stamps: SU and The Greeting Farm
Paper: SU Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Papertrey White and DP Basic Grey
Inks: Copics, Memento Black, SU Lovely Lilac
Accessories: MS Punch, SU Scallop Punch, Paper Shaper Punch, Recollections Halloween Pearl Stickers, Art Institute Glitter, Misc. Brads

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you like what I created. If you have the time and like challenges these two are worth trying. I love seeing what other talented people have created!

Have a wonderful day,

Sweet Enjoyment, 3CTC35

It is becoming quite chilly are here these past couple of days. I have kept my activities inside because of it. I was cleaning out a stash of cards that I made quite a while ago. Many were favorites that I made out of season or just wasn't sure what to do with it, so I tucked them away until now. When I saw what Kerry's Thursday challenge, 3CTC35, was I knew this card would be perfect for it. Kerry's challenge this week is a card inspired by nature. I am sure mice love corn picking time. They all fill their tummies for the long winter right around the corner.

I fell in love with this stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms. I was just starting to color with my Copics and thought it was perfect for coloring with them and the mice were just soo cute! I actually love all the Friendly Critters stamps. I didn't put any saying on the front because I wasn't sure what fit but before it finds a new home I'll find something suitable. I have to laugh because I noticed that the sky was made with Prisma colored pencils and Gamsol, it was before I owned a Cloud Maker which I couldn't live without now.

Supplies
Stamps: Cornish Heritage Farms
Papers: SU Really Rust, Always Artichoke, GP White, DP Flair Designs inc.
Inks: Copics, Prisma Colored Pencils and Gamsol
Accessories:SU Slot Punch, CTMH Leaves, LSS Ribbon

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. Please let me know what you think of one of my early Copic colorings. I really appreciate all your wonderful comments.

Enjoy your day,
Mary

You're Invited, Copic Creations #9, 3CTC26

I have been having a lot of fun being able to just play most of the day.I have three weeks until school starts again for the year. I decided I would combine two challenges this week. When I saw that the Copic Creations challenge #9 was eyes I started going through all my stamps and realized that I didn't have any stamps with great eyes except this Dustin Pike image. This was one of the many great images that I got during his super sale. It was so much fun to color and make it seem like it was jumping out at you. I read all the tutorials about doing eyes and they were very helpful. I did decide that I wanted his eyes to reflect the idea that they are submerged in the swampy water a lot, that is why I did orange on the sides of the eyes.

I also realized that this card was perfect for Kerry's Thursday challenge this week, 3CTC26, to use a digital image or back round. I have hundreds of stamps some that haven't even seen ink yet but I still find myself using digital images a lot. There are so many wonderful ones out there now. I will always love my rubber but am happy to find a new way to create with paper and color!

I really had a lot of fun making this card. The whole card is colored with Copics except the saying. I even colored on my stamp with Copics and then misted it with alcohol and stamped it over the water colored with Copics. It worked really well. The cat n' nine tails were made with a new set of Spellbinder dies I bought a stamping convention in June. They are supposed to be for words but they worked for these also.

Supplies:
Stamps: SU, Dustin Pike Digi Stamps
Paper: Papertrey white SU Summer Sun, Kiwi Kiss,Choc. Chip
Ink: Copics
Accessories: Spellbinder dies, Cuttlebug embossing folder, Cloudmaker, Dragonfly punch

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have enjoyed this card. I really appreciate all your wonderful comments, they really make my day.

A Special Birthday, 3CTC23

Every year I make my daughter's BDay card and it seems that every year it gets harder to make it totally different than the previous years. I just bought one of the new Spellbinder pendents and decided to use it on her card. Boy these new dies are so hard to use. I did everything they said and still couldn't get it out of the shape without ripping it. I wet the paper with soapy water, I put a piece of CS in to shim it in the Cuttlebug and I ran it through twice. I tried all different paper weights. It just wouldn't come out of the die in one piece. This card was my final attempt at it, I still ripped it but only in one place so I decided to cut my losses and use it on the card hopefully being able to hide the rip. I really liked the way the card came out and more importantly my daughter loved it. It is a beautiful design but doesn't make for a easy card, at least not yet. If someone else has used these and has an easier way to get them out please share it!

I tried many different papers for the back round but everything seemed too busy so I sponged the shimmery paper with pink and caramel ink. It still seemed a little empty after the ribbon was on the corners so I cut a scalloped circle in quarters and put them in the opposite corners. I was looking at the pieces I had left and and decided to use them in the center of the design and put the rose in the center of them.

After the whole card way put together I decided it needed something more so I brushed Shimmerz on all the pink CS that was showing. I tried to capture it in the second pic. It enabled me to be able to bend up the points and keep them in place and look like a piece of bone china. The whole card took on a different appearance with the Shimmers. It was a good Aha moment!

Last night I realized that the card was perfect for Kerry's Thursday challenge, 3CTC23, Bling! It doesn't have glitter but it does really shine and shimmer. I hope you can see it in the pictures.

Supplies:
Stamps: SU
Papers: SU Choc Chip. Pretty in Pink, Paper Co. Shimmer white paper, DP Basic Grey
Inks: Pretty in Pink, Creamy Caramel
Accessories: Spellbinders Pendent and Nesties, Shimmerz, Prima Rose and Michaels Sticker Pearls and ribbon

Have a wonderful day,
