Chasing The Chill Away!

It has been awhile since I have found the time to post. This is a new stamp that I bought for myself right before Christmas. I actually got a few more of the Kraftin' Kimmie stamps and then my daughter bought me some for Christmas as part of my present from her and my son. It definitely was a crafty Christmas for me!

I love the colors blue, brown and silver together so as soon as I picked out a sketch to use I knew what DP was perfect for it and then I had my colors. Usually I just sit and color the image whatever colors I want to use then worry about it matching anything else. Right now I have quite a few colored and am not very inspired to dig through my stash to find matching DP and embellishments. I guess I 'll have to pick first and color last for a bit.

I was able to match this card to some challenges though. I am finding it lots of fun to push myself to do the challenges. There are lots of very talented people that do them so I strive to be as creative as possible. Here are the challenges that go with this card

Crafty Calendar Challenge #4- January's challenge is keeping warm. She is all bundled up in her winter best and is drinking hot cocoa. I also think this color combo has a very warm feeling to it!
Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #12- What's New is the challenge. I used a brand new stamp on this card and the part of the glittered snowflakes were made with my new Spellbinders Snowflakes die set. I love using new things when I play!
Quixotic Challenge #8-Hot Chocolate is the challenge. I interpreted it as using the color brown and Piper is holding a cup of cocoa so it worked perfectly for this challenge.
Kraftin' Kimmie's Challenge #12- Heavy Metal is the challenge so I dug out my favorite shiny snowflake to use and then used shiny silver brads to match it! I love shiny anything on a card!
ABC Challenge-L is for Layering, I don't think I ever do a card without a layer on it. The more layers the better, KWIM.
365 Cards- This challenge is Metal Mania so the snowflake and the brads work perfectly for it. This is the first time I have played along with this challenge and they have some really fun ones so I can see that I will be playing with them again very soon!
Paperplay Challenge week 1- Precious Metals, I do love to use metal embellishments on a lot of my cards and this snowflake is my favorite. I don't know what I'll do when I run out of them!
Cute Card Thursday Challenge 94- This challenge is All New! My new is my Kraftin' Kimmie stamp and my Spellbinders snowflake dies. I love to ink up new Rubber!
Polka Doodles Challenge week 1-Song title, this card immediately made me think of the song, Baby It's Cold Outside. This was a fun challenge this week I have songs running through my head for some of my other cards!
Allsorts Challenge 34- The challenge this week is a great sketch. It was easy so it gave a lot of room for your own personal touch to it! I love using sketches.

This card seemed to fit a lot of the wonderful challenges that were out in blogland this week. If you get a chance why not play along or at least check out all the fantastic creations that other ladies are making. Challenges help to keep you push yourself to try new things in a fun way.

3CTC11, Simple Pleasures

This is another card that I made while we were up in Vermont. I finished it about 1am Sunday morning. I wasn't going to bed until it was done. I think this was one of the few cards I finished and didn't pull apart later because I wanted to tweak it trying to make it better. I made this card for Kerry's Thursday challenge, 3CTC11. This week it was a sketch challenge that was a lot of fun to do. Every week Kerry's challenges are great.

This wagon is a new stamp from Great Impressions. As soon as I saw it I fell in love with it and ordered it right on the spot. The image was colored with Copics and then I added Flower Soft to some of the flowers. I love using Flower Soft. After thr flower soft was dry I added some stickles to the flowers to make them sparkle. It doesn't show up in the pic but in real life it looks like the sun bouncing off the inside of the wagon. I didn't even think about making the card any color but blue since it is my favorite color to work with. I can see me using this wagon a lot!

Supplies:
Stamps: Great Impressions, CTMH
Paper: SU Bliss Blue, Basic Grey, Neenah white and DP SU
Inks: Copics
Accessories: Nesties, Flower Soft, Stickles, white pen and misc. brads

I hope you like this card and it gives you some inspiration in your own papercrafting. If you have a minute I would love to know what you think of it.

Thanks for looking,
Mary

Sugar Nellie Growing Love!

It feels like it has been forever since I have posted. Our stamping weekend in Vermont was fantastic! Lots of friends, laughing, great food and creativity among all the stampers and scrapers. We even managed to leave the inn long enough to hit the LSS for a 25% off everything in the store sale!
Before I left for the weekend my sister Peggy and I bought lots of new Sugar Nellie, High Hopes
and Great Impressions stamps. I got lots of cards made over the weekend so I have lots to post. This first card was one of my favorites. I love this Sugar Nellie and when I was making it my friend Kristen had the perfect back round paper for it! The paper definitely was the perfect finishing touch for this card.
Supplies:
Stamps: Sugar Nellie, Rubber Stamp Tapestry
Paper: SU Choc Chip, DP Basic Grey
Inks: Copics, Memento black
Accessories: Nesties, CTMH flowers and pin, Stickles, Michaels ribbon and misc. brads
Thank for stopping by to see my card. Please check back often I have lots of new creations to post from this stamping vacation. I am off to school so I won't be late!

Build a Snowman

It is yet another SNOWY day in New England! It would be a perfect time to build a snowman but the snow outside is the fluffy kind so I guess I'll have to build one inside. Actually I started this one in Vermont and never quite finished it until this weekend.

The snowman is a CTMH stamp set that lets you build it yourself. The set is owned by my friend Kerry and she let me play with it when we went on a stamping weekend in Vermont. I really liked the set because of all the choices it gave you. I like the DP paper that I used on the back round so I stamped the hat, scarf and mittens on it and cut them out. I didn't like the mittens on the ends of the sticks so I put the sparkle fiber around the neck of the snowman and hung the mittens from that just like when I was little and our mittens ran through the sleeves of our coat on yarn that was knitted as part of our mittens that were handmade for us. Didn't everyone have a pair of these so you couldn't lose your mittens? Am I dating myself?

This card opens a little different than others that I've made, the white part of the card is what opens and it is layered on the DP paper and Night of Navy CS just to change the look a bit.

I hope this card brought back a nice winter memory for you like it did for me.

Supplies:
Stamps: CTMH
Ink: Black Versafine, SU Bliss Blue, Only Orange and Brown Marker
CS: SU Night of Navy, GP White and DP Dream Street
Accessories: Sparkle Fiber, Icicles Stickles, white pompom and rhinestones

I just got a new bunch of Whipper Snapper stamps (5 of them are snowmen, I just couldn't resist). So if you like snowmen like me check back to see what I do with them!

Thanks for looking!
