Going Grey with Scrap-Creations Challenge 13

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. The weather was beautiful here in New England. I gardened a lot of the weekend so I decided to create a card with a garden theme.
Being Tuesday it is time for another great challenge at
All the cards were wonderful last week for the sketch challenge, I enjoyed seeing them all very much. This week is challenge #13 and it is a color challenge blue, pink, and yellow. Aren't those great Spring colors! Make those the main colors on your creation and of course don't forget to use Basic Grey paper on your creation also. This is a really fun and easy challenge this week so come play with us. We will be picking 3 cards for the TOP 3 of the week and they will get a blinky to display proudly on their blog. That could be you! I can't wait to see what you create and good luck!
Just in case you need some inspiration the ladies have created some extra special cards this week so check them out and let them know what you think

I just love Sugar Nellie stamps so I decided that I would use one for the challenge this week. When I opened up to them I realized that I had never inked up this stamp so it was like having something brand new to play with! I tend to buy even when I don't need anything new I just want something new that I see.

Here are some other wonderful challenges that fit my card

Sketch and Stash Challenge 36-This is a great sketch to play with and my new stash is the Sugar Nellie stamp and the yellow swirl ribbon that I got at my LSS this past weekend!

One Stop Craft Challenge #82-This challenge is to use swirls and pearls on your creation. I have swirls behind the image, my ribbon is swirled, and I my swirl punch to make some swirl embellishments, I even swirled the pearl strand. The pearls are all over my card because I love using pearls.

Oh Alice... Challenge Chapter 15-This is a new challenge for me and what a fun one it is. Their challenge this week is "SWIRLS". I love playing along with new challenges!

Stamp Dreams (StempelTräume) Challenge #33-This is also a new challenge for me this week. Their challenge is also to use swirls on your creation. I am playing along with this challenge because my sister Peggy is one of the DTs and I loved her card that she created for "swirls"!

One Stitch At A Time Challenge 15-This challenge is to use something new. I have two new items, my Sugar Nellie stamp and my yellow swirl ribbon (I bought lots of different colors of this pretty ribbon).

Crafty Creations Challenge 69-The challenge this week is to use your Favorite stamp. I don't think I have one favorite stamp but my favorite stamp company is Sugar Nellie. I have so many favs of theseI guess that is why I seem to own so many!

Sweet Stampin Challenge-This is a great challenge "Pimp Your Card" add lots of bling, embellishments, ribbons, the sky's the limit! How much fun is that!!!

Cupcake Craft Challenge 93-This challenge this week is "summer delights". One of my favorite summer enjoyments is working in my garden or creating a garden card!

Get Well Soon Wish

If any of you read my post two days ago I was hoping for a snow day to stay home, play and make some cards, it didn't happen. But to my surprise I turned on the tv when I got up yesterday to get ready for school and it was canceled! I guess with all the strong winds and rain many people were without power, so they canceled school! This card is what I played with and finished.

I bought this DP on a whim at Michaels one day a couple of weeks ago. It was a 6x6 pack and all the paper is glittered. Not the normal colors that I would buy but it definitely caught my eye. Turns out it also matched Primas that I bought at one of the stamping conventions that I went to last Spring and had never used. The sketch had a strip down the side and so I wanted to do something different besides just running the ribbon straight down so I used glue dots and made it ripple like ribbon candy. It looks a lot better in real life than in the pic, does add dimension to the card. Where I was making a get well card I wanted a bit of elegance so I used a lot of pearls on it also. It took me most of the day to finish it because I kept changing things on it but in the end I was happy with it.

These are the challenges that it fits

Stampin' For The Weekend-I used the sketch from this challenge on this card, it is a great sketch.
Cute Card Thursday Challenge 101-Ribbon-tastic is the challenge this week, I love using ribbon on cards.
C.R.A.F.T Challenge 39-This challenge is a recipe, use ribbon and have sparkle. I used a shimmery ribbon and all the DP is glittered!
Raise The Bar Challenge #7-Three's Company is their challenge this week. They was use to use three of something our choice. I used 3 of 2 different flowers, 3 different size pearls, and more than 3 punched out leaves.
Pile It On Challenge #7-The challenge they would like us to do this week is a Get Well Soon card.
I hope this card would cheer up someone who is not feeling well.
Creative Card Crew Challenge 45-Their challenge this week is also a get well soon card. It is so nice to know you can someone feel better with a handcrafted card made from the heart.
Spoonful of Sugar Challenge 92-This challenge was to use distress inks(if you have them), pearls and glitter. I have never used distress inks so I used my Copics to color the image but I did use lots of pearls and I used glittered DP.

I hope you liked this card that I created. It was definitely one of the longer times it took to make it. I hope that it has inspired you to create a card for a challenge you like. These were all fantastic ones this week.

Warm Hands, Warm Heart

It is back to school tomorrow, vacation is over for me. This time seems to go so fast because of the holidays I suppose. I started this card on Friday for the Sugar Nellie challenge, Sugar Bowl Challenge 26 Lilians Sketch. The added part is to include "something new" along with the sketch.
The new on my card is this cute Sugar Nellie stamp (first time it has been inked) and the DP which I just bought a short time ago and just opened it now to use it.

This should have been an easy card for me but the colors in the DP are definitely not colors I use at all. Coloring with my Copics colors that I might not even have used yet was hard to figure what would work together, none of these colors that I own had colors close to each other to use for shading and blending. It took me days of walking away and coming back before everything matched and looked good. Next card I am going back to my comfort colors!

I do have to say that these new 6x6 packs called petite papers from Webster's Papers are beautiful. I used the holiday paper pack this time but I also have another of the floral packs also. Their papers are very shabby chic with a touch of old world I guess I would call it. Our LSS started carrying the line and these packs fly out of the store.

Supplies
Stamps:Sugar Nellie, Impression Obsession (saying)
Papers: CTMH Textured CS, Papertrey White CS, DP Webster's Pages
Inks: Copics, Memento Black
Accessories:Nesties, Making Memories Distressing Tool, Paper Shaper Whale Tail Punch and Snowflake, MS Snowflake Punch, Stickles Chunky Glitter, Recollections Sticker Pearls, LSS Ribbon, Gold Charm Unknown

Thank you so much for stopping by today to see what I created. I really do appreciate everyone who stops by my blog and especially those who leave a comment about my cards. It means so much to me.

Have a wonderful start to the week,
Mary

Ready For Snow!

It is just starting to snow lightly here. They are saying this area of Massachusetts is going to get 5-6" overnight. We always seem to get the most out of the whole state I guess because we are in the northern part of the state about 10 minutes from the NH border. I hate the stuff unless it is on a card!

I did this card for the Sugar Bowl challenge, challenge 25, Lilian's sketch. You were to use the sketch and also your favorite color. My favorite color is blue and it goes perfectly with these shades of pink and cranberry so this card was a lot of fun to do. I also love this Sugar Nellie winter stamp because she is so fun to color! I put lots of sparkle on it but of course it didn't show up well in the picture. There is no sentiment yet because I'm not sure if it will be a Christmas card yet.

Supplies
Stamps: Sugar Nellie
Paper: SU Bravo Burgundy CS, Old Olive CS, Bashful Blue CS Papertrey White CS, and DP Basic Grey
Inks: Copics
Accessories: Coluzzle Cutter, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, SU Glitter, Recollections Sticker Pearls, Joanns Ribbon and Pearl String Beads, SU Slot Punch, and Bow Easy

Thanks for stopping by to see what I created for the Sugar Bowl challenge. I really appreciate all the wonderful comments that you leave for me.

Enjoy the weekend,

Writing to Santa, Sugar Bowl Challenge 24

I am so glad that today was Friday. I went back to school yesterday and I have been really tired trying to get back in the swing of things. The one good thing was that I got some time during lunch to finish up my Sugar Bowl Challenge card. I started it yesterday but didn't think I would get to finish it until tomorrow. This is one of the new Christmas stamps that I just adore. I don't tend to buy the boy images as much as the girls but I loved this image and had to have it.

This week the Sugar Bowl Challenge is sketch 24 by Marlene. You also have to have some sort of zigzag on the card. I thought that would be a problem but it turns out that I had some SU rick rack ribbon. It was light green so I pulled out my Copics and colored it red and to brighten it up put red Stickles on it. I made something that reminded me of the corsages you see around the holidays in mini form. I tried to color the hat and scarf to match the plaid paper back round. Just a little glitter to add a little sparkle without him having bling.

Supplies
Stamps: Sugar Nellie
Paper: SU Real Red. Night of Navy, Papertrey White, CTMH Textured White, and DP Bo Bunny and Basic Grey
Inks: Copics
Accessories: Cuttlebug Embossing Folders, Paper Shaper Swirl Punch, MS Branch Punch, SU Glitter, Stickles, SU Rick Rack Ribbon, CTMH Ribbon, Kaiser Pearls, Queen & Co Pearls, Pearl Pins Unknown

I hope you liked my interpretation of the Sugar Bowl Sketch this week. Thank you stopping by. I would love to know what you think of my card.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Mary

Give Thanks, Sugar Bowl Challenge 23 Judy's Sketch

Yesterday Peggy and I along with another sister and my daughter went to Boston for a huge holiday craft fair. It was great and I didn't come home with anymore snowmen(though I really wanted to buy some cute ones I saw). I did get some great things though and everyone had a really great day. As soon as I got home I wanted to do some creating after seeing all the wonderful items people were selling that were beautiful. There sure are many talented people in this world.

I did this card for the Sugar Nellie Sugar Bowl Challenge 23, Judy's Sketch. The extra that is included with it is to make it a thankful card. This is the last Fall Sugar Nellie stamp that I have not used yet so I figured it was a perfect fit for the sketch and theme of the challenge. I used lots of DP on it because of the colors. I like the earthy colors all mixed with the different patterns like polka dots and stripes, KWIM? I thought the card needed a little something more so I went with the Fall theme and punch out leaves in the DP that I used and added them around the card. The polka dotted DP is new from a company called Poppy Stamps. The paper comes in a 6x6 pack and it is all polka dots in earthy colors, they are just beautiful. If you love dots you should keep youe eyes out for this wonderful paper!

Supplies
Stamps: Sugar Nellie, SU (saying)
Paper: SU CS Choc. Chip, Always Artichoke, Papertrey White, DP Basic Grey, PoppyStamps Polka Dot DP
Inks: Copics, SU Bashful Blue, Memento Black and Cocoa
Accessories: Nesties, Cloudmaker, MS Branch Punch, EK Success Leaf Punch, Recollections Sticker Pearls, Michaels Ribbon

I hope this card inspired you to do a Sugar Nellie challenge or just creat a wonderful Fall card of your own. Thank for stopping by and for all the wonderful comments that you leave about my cards.

Enjoy this beautiful Fall day,
Mary

New Friends, Sugar Nellie Challenge #20 Gayle's Sketch

It has been rainy day here in New England today. I'm not complaining because all the plants could use a good soaking before the Fall temps come along for good. It was a great day to stay inside and make some cards. This card was made for the challenge over at Sugar Nellie's Sugar Bowl, Challenge 20 Gayle's sketch . I always love their challenges, so many beautiful cards to see and they always add a little twist. This week is a sketch and on the card you need to paper piece something on the card. I pieced her coat, mittens, scarf and hat. I also colored on the paper on the hat and scarf to tie it into the mittens.

I didn't have any idea what I was going to do on the card when I started. I am not one to pick out my DP before I start coloring so picking out the DP that I was going to use for the paper piecing was no different. Luckily the new pack of winter DP from Basic Grey had this really cute reindeer paper that matched the finished image perfectly. I did mess up though. When I do the sky I usually have green grass on the ground. I wasn't thinking and I masked off for snow and when the sky and the snowy ground were done it looks they are somewhere barren I should have added some trees into the back round, next time I'll know. I did add flock on the sleeves and the pompom on her hat. I also bought at the convention some snow glitter. It looked great on their samples and I couldn't walk away without it. It does give a different sparkle than glitter.
I didn't add a saying yet because I am not sure if I'll use this as one of my Christmas cards this year.

Supplies Stamps: Sugar Nellie
Paper: SU Kiwi Kiss, Rose Red, Papertrey White, DP Basic Grey, Bo Bunny
Coloring: Copics, SU Bashful Blue
Accessories: Cloud Maker, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, Stampendous Flock and Twinklets Snow Glitter, Paper Shaper Snowflake Border Punch, Maya Road Pearl Pin, LSS Ribbon, Felt Snowflakes, EK Success Snowflake Punches, Kaiser Pearls

I hope you liked the way this card came out. Thank you so much for all your lovely comments about my creations, it is truly appreciated.

Have a wonderful day,
Mary
